We are looking for a practical, hands-on person to join us for the upcoming winter season in Kiruna, Swedish Lapland.

Due to an unexpected change in our team, we are looking for someone who enjoys solving practical problems, working outdoors and is not afraid to get their hands dirty.

What We Are Especially Looking For

  • Strong mechanical, technical or practical skills
  • Experience operating snowmobiles
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in Arctic conditions
  • Reliable, flexible and calm under pressure
  • Good English

We are especially interested in applicants with backgrounds such as:

  • Mechanic
  • Carpenter
  • Farmer
  • Snowmobile guide
  • Experienced dog sled guide with solid snowmobile skills
  • Outdoor guide
  • Anyone with strong hands-on experience and excellent practical problem-solving skills

Whether you come from a technical trade or already have experience as a dog sled guide, we are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and confident operating snowmobiles.

Experience with sled dogs is a big advantage, but technical ability and practical problem-solving skills are equally valuable during a busy Arctic winter.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Grooming and maintaining our dog sled trails using snowmobiles
  • Operating, maintaining and repairing equipment
  • Guiding dog sled tours
  • Caring for our Alaskan Huskies
  • Feeding and kennel work
  • General maintenance around the farm
  • Preparing guests for their adventures and assisting with daily operations

Volunteers and Trainees

We are looking for volunteers and trainees to help with our pack of Alaskan Huskies throughout the year.

We will teach you how to work with the dogs and introduce you to the daily routines of life at a husky kennel. During winter, suitable and experienced helpers may also have the opportunity to learn how to drive a dog sled and develop their skills as a guide or musher.

Main Tasks During Summer and Autumn

  • Feeding the dogs
  • Cleaning the kennels
  • Maintaining the kennels and property
  • Socialising and playing with the dogs
  • Helping with autumn training
  • Helping with regular household tasks

Main Tasks During Winter

  • Feeding the dogs
  • Cleaning the kennels
  • Shovelling snow
  • Helping to prepare dog sled tours, including harnessing the dogs
  • Helping to host guests
  • Assisting with accommodation, meals, bookings and transfers
  • Helping with regular household tasks

You Are

  • Passionate about dogs
  • Able to work independently
  • Enthusiastic and positive
  • Comfortable with long and irregular working hours
  • Physically fit
  • Happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • In possession of a valid driving licence

What else:

We expect a minimum stay of 3 months. During high season there are also possibilities for shorter stays if you prefer to help with guests rather than dogs.
